How much time does scrolling really take?
Two or three hours a day sounds harmless, but it adds up: at 2.5 hours a day you gain back more than 17 hours every week and around 75 hours a month. That's almost two full work weeks of time each month for sleep, friends, sport or a project.
How to make the detox stick
- Delete the apps, keep the accounts. Removing apps from your phone is easier than deleting accounts and stops most automatic scrolling.
- Use the time on purpose. Write down what you want to do with the hours you get back.
- Turn off notifications for everything that is not a real person.
- Tell friends how to reach you instead, for example by message or phone.
- Relapsed? Press "Start again". Your best streak is kept.
